Like so many already, you could raise your own egg layers! Started pullets simply means we would raise baby chicks for you so you don't have to deal with the delicate early brooding stage. They are old enough that they no longer need the heat lamp or extra attention. 
We would like to make it as easy and up to the customer as possible, so we have different age options. Our recommendation would be that if you are keeping them inside or in a secure coop with some shelter, then 6 weeks would work for you. If you are going to free-range them or put them in a mostly open outdoor coop, our recommendation would be at least 8-10 weeks. We will start at 6 weeks for $12 and then increase by $1 a week.
